Abstract

In contemporary Christian ministry, the issue of inclusivity toward marginalized groups is often neglected. The Parable of the Wedding Banquet in Matthew 22:1–14 offers a profound theological insight into the divine invitation that transcends social boundaries. This study aims to explore the theological meaning of this parable as a foundation for inclusive discipleship and ministry to the marginalized. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature study and narrative theological analysis. The text of Matthew 22:1–14 is examined exegetically, considering its historical, social, and canonical context, and interpreted in the light of public theology and contemporary discipleship praxis. The findings reveal that the invitation in the parable is not only universal but also explicitly embraces those who are socially excluded. The act of “inviting everyone found on the streets” affirms inclusivity as a characteristic of the Kingdom of God. Discipleship emerging from this invitation is transformative, requiring acceptance, repentance, and faithfulness. These findings affirm that the Church is called to be a community of embrace rather than exclusion. Inclusive ministry is not merely a social approach but a prophetic act rooted in a theological understanding of grace. The practical implication is the need to reposition discipleship strategies to actively reach out to the marginalized, rather than passively waiting for their participation.
