Abstract

In an ever-evolving society, especially among the younger generation, churches and religious organizations are faced with the challenge of providing relevant and meaningful worship. The Sungai Kehidupan Foundation in West Kalimantan, which brings together young people from various ethnic, cultural, and church denomination backgrounds, responds to this challenge with a contextual theology of worship approach. This study aims to explore the application of contextual theology of worship that can address the spiritual needs of young people in their cultural and social contexts. Using a qualitative case study-based method, this study identifies young people's preferences for more interactive, flexible, and innovative worship, as well as the importance of integrating traditional and modern elements. The results show that an adaptive and inclusive community and leadership approach plays an important role in creating a form of worship that not only touches on spiritual but also social aspects. Through the application of contextual theology of worship that considers cultural and technological elements, the Sungai Kehidupan Foundation is expected to provide a relevant and impactful worship experience for the younger generation.
